Australia's most gloriously contradictory singer-songwriter celebrates her new gothic folk masterpiece THE KISS AND THE ABYSS, and twenty years since her debut album LITTLE EVE.

KATE MILLER-HEIDKE has always lived in a place of musical contradictions; opera and pop, theatrical and folky, epic and intimate, heartfelt and funny, classical and of the moment. Her new album THE KISS AND THE ABYSS is no exception - a powerful, timely, and timeless record in the style of gothic folk. It’s a sound that reconnects Kate with her earliest musical instincts, the folk tradition she grew up listening to and honing her songwriting on - now refracted back through a darker, wiser, and more cinematic lens, with a layer of theatricality that is unmistakably Kate.

THE KISS AND THE ABYSS explore the perils of modern technology and the internet age. Timeless musical soundscapes and ancient mythologies meet modern concerns, with songs that seduce, songs that can make you laugh when you least expect it, and songs that sound a warning. Songs that are the sirens of our times. With Kate as the ultimate siren herself, luring you into her world with a voice that is glorious, ethereal, and otherworldly, but always beautifully human.

Alongside the new tracks, Kate will be digging into the long-buried treasure of her platinum debut LITTLE EVE on its 20th anniversary, bringing back much-requested songs she hasn't played in years.

Expect darkness and light, heartfelt emotion and sharp humour, raw folk storytelling and vocal fireworks, dramatic intensity and pop-folk fun. Kate’s incredible live shows are known for leaving audiences in stunned silence one minute and erupting in laughter the next. She is as funny, warm, and unpredictable between songs as she is staggering within them. That voice, one of the great instruments in Australian music, soaring from tender whispers to operatic heights. It’s impossible to resist and glorious to follow.

"Songs of introspection, self- admission, and defiance. Many take us to dark places of personal regret and remorse, but others punch skywards with iron-fisted resolve. She is virtually without peer in the pop world.” - InReview
