The head of the Kazami-Ryu school is returning to Australia and New Zealand teaching a variety of new tricks and forms to those interested in improving their Shibari. Miss Gen, head of the school in Oceania will travel with him as his Interpreter and teaching assistant,

About the performers

Kazami Ranki

Although he is nicknamed the “Atrocious Nawashi”, Kazami Ranki's Kinbaku truly highlights the nature and spirit of the woman in her tied element. He believes the model should be tied to enhance her beauty, while still feeling the strength and power of the bondage. He has been tying for around 30 years, with over 20 of those years in a professional capacity.

Internationally he has performed and taught in London at the Festival of the Art of Japanese Bondage and in Australia at the Sydney Rope Festival as well as other individual workshop events in the UK, Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Taipei and Europe.

He is the head of the Kazami-Ryu school of Kinbaku, with schools in Australia and Canada.

Kisa

Kisa is a Melbourne based, half-Japanese Shibari artist, who discovered her love for rope in 2020. She uses Shibari to express her love of vulnerability and connection. For Kisa, the art of rope becomes both a personal and cultural expression, drawing audiences into her journey of relinquishing control and embracing the beauty of suffering.

Miss Gen

Miss Gen has been tying herself up since she was 5, and this fascination with bondage continues to this day. A member of the local kink community since the late 1990’s, She has been teaching and performing rope for around 15 years. Since 2015 She has been teaching the Kazami-Ryu style of Shibari and since 2018 has been the Kazami-Ryu Shihan, or Head Of School, in the Oceania region. Her shibari has evolved over the years, and She is currently going through a period of what She describes as “enjoying the strength and fortitude of those She ties with”…or translated, “She likes to torture people…”

Beeg

Beeg has been an active part of the Australian rope scene for over three years, primarily exploring the art of rope from the perspective of the person being tied.

Fascinated by how shibari brings people together —both figuratively and literally—they’re especially captivated by its more intense and challenging aspects. With a love for the rougher edges of rope play, Beeg finds beauty in the testing of limbs, minds, and spines - their rope practice being characterised by physical intensity and emotional surrender.

In this performance, Beeg is honoured to support Miss Gen as she showcases her incredible skills, sharing in a practice grounded in tension, trust, and presence.

Venue Access: The performance is not fully accessible. It will be up a full flight of stairs and unfortunately no elevator / lift is available. MCR crew can assist folk with the stairs if needed.
