Event description

If you’ve been wondering how your Jewish ancestry might be shaping your reactions to current events, this workshop is for you. Together, we’ll name and explore the trauma and ripple effects of October 7th, as well as the rise in antisemitic incidents. We’ll also create space to acknowledge the pain connected to your Jewish identity, including ancestral trauma and personal experiences of antisemitism. In a supportive and non-judgmental environment, you’ll be invited to share your experiences and feel truly seen. You’ll learn about the biology of intergenerational trauma and how “weird,” anxious or shut-down behaviors can be primal protective responses. Through guided exercises and practical tools, you’ll discover ways to reground and work with your body to feel more calm and in control.

Hannah Kanter, LICSW, LMSW is a Reform Jew, psychotherapist, and mindfulness teacher who specializes in mind-body approaches to healing for anxious Jews. She is the founder of HelpforAnxiousJews.com and Healing with Hannah, a private therapy practice based in Cambridge, MA, where she supports adults healing from sexual trauma, OCD, anxiety, and perinatal challenges. Hannah integrates evidence-based modalities—including EMDR, IFS, DBT, and ERP—with mindfulness and somatic practices to help clients regulate their nervous systems and reconnect with themselves. She holds degrees in History of Medicine and Social Work from the University of Michigan and completed a clinical fellowship in psychiatry at Michigan Medicine. A longtime student of both neuroscience and holistic healing, Hannah brings a blend of curiosity, compassion, and grounded humor to every workshop she leads.
