Sketch the Garden with Lene Toni Kjeld
Description
SKETCH THE GARDEN
with Lene Toni Kjeld
Lene is a surface designer hailing from Denmark and now based in Tāmaki. Lene's creative path continues here with studio work and teaching. She says she is constantly reminded that people and nature plays an immense role in how we act and understand our world and her art and design very much reflect this connection.
Join this workshop with designer Lene Kjeld. Lene offers an opportunity to slow down and observe the abundance of the spring through sketching. Whether you're a beginner or already have a drawing practice, this session will help you see plants in new ways and develop techniques for capturing their unique forms and characteristics.
Make your own simple hand bound art journal which you can then use for sketching in. Lene will guide participants on a walk through Kelmarna's gardens and food forest, introducing the flowers, herbs, vegetables, and companion plants that emerge in spring. You'll learn a variety of sketchbook journaling techniques, exploring line, shape, texture, and observation as tools for understanding the living world. Through drawing and making, you'll deepen your connection to the seasonal rhythms of the farm and leave with new creative skills and inspiration.
Tickets include:
a guided garden sketching tour
instruction in botanical sketching techniques
access to materials and equipment
your own sketches and binding techniques to take home
We look forward to seeing you on the farm soon!
