Kennedy Bay Beach Clean Up GBRCU
Event description
Join Cassowary Coast Regional Council, Tangaroa Blue Foundation, and the Girringun Rangers for the 2025 Kennedy Bay Beach Clean-up.
We’ll meet on the Kennedy Esplanade at the entrance to Jackey Jackey Street for a short safety briefing before carpooling in a 4WD convoy through private access to the site. Once there, volunteers will split into groups to collect marine debris for a couple of hours. Afterward, we’ll weigh and count the collected items for the Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI) database. This vital work helps track litter trends, drive change, and hold polluters accountable.
The event is also part of the Great Barrier Reef Clean-up (GBRCU), a month-long initiative run throughout October thanks to Tangaroa Blue Foundation and ReefClean.
While debris is being recorded, a BBQ lunch will be provided for all participants to enjoy before we pack up and return to the starting point.
What to bring: enclosed shoes, hat, sun-safe clothing, water bottle, and a smile.
