Join us for a live international Q&A to build new friendships, and share stories from Rainbow / LGBTQ+ community advocates. With guest speaker Bright Shitemi, we'll compare experiences in Aotearoa New Zealand and Kenya.
We'll chat about our:
- Shared legacy as former British colonies. European colonisation continues to impact lives, identities, and livelihoods for Rainbow people across the world. How has this played out in Kenya and Aotearoa, in relation to our local cultural contexts and histories?
- Responses to contemporary global challenges, including disinformation on social media platforms and rising conservatism in some Christian and faith-based communities.
- Recent successes, our stories of solidarity, joy, activism, friendship, and community.
Attendees will be welcome to ask questions or simply listen in and be inspired!
This is a free event, with the option of making a donation when registering. All donations will support Bright to upskill his team at his pioneering non-profit, Mental 360, to develop mental health interventions specifically for the African LGBTQ+ community.
This event is a collaboration between Mental 360, Just Peoples, and Seed Waikato, with voluntary organising support from Rainbow / LGBTQ+ community members living in Hamilton, New Zealand.
