Event description

Three remarkable 'throwback' singer/songwriters perform in Bendigo's most welcoming venue - The Old Church on the Hill - as part of Bendigo Blues & Roots Music Festival #10.

About the artists...

Kerryn Fields: Fuelled by humility, integrity and a raw clarity of vision, Kerryn Fields paints enduring musical portraits that detail the colour and feeling of everything that makes us human.
Drawing comparisons with the likes of timeless creators, Cat Stevens, Townes Van Zandt, Joan Baez, Neil Young, and more, Fields' trademark warmth of character - evident in both life and music - fuels a creative offering that's equal parts captivating, refined and heartrendingly insightful.
Newstead Live Music Festival's Troubadour Artist of the Year (2019), winner of the MLT Songwriting Award (NZ Country Music Awards 2019) and New Zealand's Best New Broadcaster (at age 19), Kerryn Fields has released a range of celebrated records including debut LP, Rascal (2015) and award-winning, critically acclaimed single, Mamma (2019).

Hannah Acfield: Melbourne's Hannah Acfield is an exceptional vocalist and songwriter. Described as 'a luscious blend of Aretha Franklin and Joni Mitchell', Acfield's vocally powerful and melodically rich songwriting combines the storytelling of folk music and the emotive expression of gospel/soul.
"The best voice I've heard in a long time" - Venetta Fields

Luke Watt: Luke Watt is a folk/blues singer-songwriter. With influences including Chris Whitley, Richard Thompson and Kelly Joe Phelps, he’s a finger picker of great dexterity, drawing on elements of folk and blues to convey stories both dark and uplifting. He has appeared at festivals including the Gympie Music Muster, Port Fairy Folk Festival and the Brunswick Music festival, as well as several tours across Europe and abroad.

About the venue:

The Old Church on the Hill is located on the corner of Harkness and Russell Streets, Quarry Hill, Bendigo.
The Singer/Songwriter Showcase events, staged at the Old Church by the Bendigo Blues & Roots Music Festival crew on a semi-regular basis, are an opportunity to enjoy a House Concert vibe in a public venue. The door charge is kept as low as possible to ensure accessibility to all. Under 12s free and, although drinks are available for sale, the focus is on THE MUSIC. If your conversation is more important to you than other people’s enjoyment of the artists’ performance, please take it outside. (Thanks.)
Proceeds from drink sales go to supporting the Old Church crew and their many worthy initiatives.
We look forward to your company for an intimate concert experience like you’ve likely never experienced before.
