Event description

WORKING WITH THE MEDIA

People of all ages and stages are increasingly getting their news and social referral information online and the art of publicity is more relevant than ever.

Also known as ‘earned media’, publicity or media relations can be more cost efficient than advertising for NFPs or NGOs with small or no marketing budget. However, there are so many charities in New Zealand trying to get free air time so how do you cut through the email noise to engage journalists with your cause?

Suzanne McNicol has worked both sides of the media ledger in New Zealand: inside radio and tv networks and for commercial and NFP organisations working to influence the public through news coverage.

Participants will learn about:

  • the most influential media in NZ post-Covid
  • what they are looking for in a news or current affairs story
  • how to build a PR package of facts, talent and human interest
  • the best ways to pitch to news organisations and some no-no’s.

This webinar will also cover the ground rules of crisis communications or how to garner positive public opinion when your organisation finds itself facing negative publicity.

Date & Time:  Thursday 29th April @ 10-11.30am

Presenter: Suzanne McNicol
