Kiama Coastal Community Planting @ Little Blowhole
Event description
Join us for a Community Planting Day with Little Blowhole Landcare as part of the Kiama Coastal Community Plantings Project.
We have 300 native trees, shrubs, grasses, and ground covers ready to be planted—and we need your help! Whether you're a long-time Landcare supporter or just curious about getting involved, this is a fantastic way to learn, connect, and make a real impact. Families and children are welcome.
This is your chance to:
- Meet a local Landcare group and see their work in action
- Contribute to restoring and protecting the Kiama Coast Walk’s unique coastal environment
- Learn how easy it is to make a difference in your own community
All plants come from local community nurseries, ensuring they are native and suited to the area.
What to bring & expect
- Wear covered shoes, long sleeves, long pants, and a hat
- Bring a water bottle and any favourite gardening digging tools (we’ll have extras!)
- Arrive at 9am for a site briefing and sign-in
- Help plant, stake, mulch, and water our new seedlings
- Wrap up with a light morning tea—we’ll provide tea, coffee, and treats!
About Little Blowhole Landcare
Formed in 2005, this group came together to restore a degraded gully and creek line near the Little Blowhole. Local residents took action to revive native vegetation and highlight the area’s deep Indigenous connections through interpretive signage. Their primary work involves removing invasive pasture grasses and weeds, gradually returning the landscape to its natural state
This event is part of our Kiama Coastal Community Planting project, supported by the BUPA Healthy Cities Landcare Australia Grants program
