Kidical Mass Adelaide - Demonstration Event 2024

Event description

The Kidical Mass movement is global!

Join thousands of children and their families worldwide in taking over their city streets to claim their right to ride safely.

"Kidical Mass is more than just a protest; it gives children a voice, creating a positive vision for the future, connecting the young and old across the cycling community".

Organising partners Middle Ground MotherhoodBike Adelaide and Parents for Climate, with support from Bike SA and the Commissioner for Children and Young People, invite you to our local event on Sunday, 22 September 2024 at 10 am, beginning and ending at Whitmore Square/Iparrityi, Adelaide.

Our third annual event is set to be our biggest ever!

Our campaign asks for decision-makers to:

(1) Enable and activate bike riding joy

(2) Create comfortable, convenient and connected bike-riding routes and healthy streets

(3) Support children's wellbeing and health through bike riding (and walking/wheeling) to school.

Our top three priorities for action include:

🚴‍♀️ #30Please A safer speed on our streets is 30 km/h
🚴 #SafeStreetstoSchool Prioritise active transport around schools
🚴 #EBikeSubsidies Make it cheaper to choose electric bikes.

We will publish our demonstration day statement closer to the event.

Our riding route

We begin and end our ride in Whitmore Square/Iparrityi, Adelaide.

Cycling route details will be confirmed closer to the date. They include off-road and on-road elements and short—and long-ride options to suit different skill and energy levels. Volunteer marshals and an SA Police escort will guide the route to help you and your family enjoy a safe and relaxing ride.

After the ride, stay for a new cycling festival the City of Adelaide is hosting for World Car Free Day in Whitmore Square/Iparrityi, Adelaide. There will be food, stalls and entertainment to enjoy.

Tickets

Please book a ticket to help us plan a safe and fun ride for everyone. We have created different categories of tickets so we can report on attendee numbers after the event.

Tickets are free.

We're grateful to the Commissioner for Children and Young People for supporting our event this year, which means we aren't crowdfunding as we have in previous years.

We look forward to seeing you on the day. Please follow our social media for regular updates: Facebook and Instagram

In the lead-up to the event, we're hosting "Kidical Kids" community gatherings to prepare for the ride. Check out the details here
