Kids Adventure Club Term One 2023
Event description
Would your child benefit from time in the outdoors, learning practical skills and taking part in fun, adventurous activities?
If so, our Kids Adventure Club - a series of sessions safely engaging kids in active outdoors pursuits such as sailing, bushwalking, mountain biking, geocaching and rock climbing - could be the perfect fit!
Go WIRED! in Nature (Year 4-6)
1.30pm - 4.00pm
Over the course of the Term, participants will take part in a variety of local adventures such as
- Beachcombing/Marine life identification
- Flora and Fauna identification, Bush care
- Wild animal rescue and care with local carers and what you can do to help
- Geocaching and navigation skills
- Bushfire safety and awareness
- Bush Tucker and shelter building with local elders
All of these sessions will be accompanied by technology resources such as apps, online information and GPS devices for navigation. We are going WIRED as we go WILD!
Young Adventurers (Year 1-3)
1.30pm - 3.00pm
Our first ever young adventurers program will see participants take part in fun outdoor activities such as:
- Shelter Building
- Navigation
- Keeping safe outdoors
- Clothing and equipment
- Nature hikes and scavenger hunts
Programs will run on Saturday afternoons:

- 11/3
- 18/3
- 25/3
- 1/4
Why Outdoor Recreation?
The benefits of outdoor recreation are widely acknowledged to provide both physical and mental health benefits including resilience, as well as increased personal confidence and a general sense of wellbeing.
Over time, participants can gain leadership skills, environmental awareness and First Aid skills, all while having fun and meeting peers with common interests.
The State government through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries is a major supporter of Outdoors Great Southern in Western Australia. Sport and recreation creates vibrant, inclusive and connected WA communities.
