Kids Art Classes – Term 2
Get ready for a creative and inspiring Term 2 with our Kids Art Classes! Starting Wednesday, April 30th, these weekly sessions are designed to spark imagination and develop artistic skills in a fun and supportive environment.
Class Schedule:+
• Homeschoolers (All Ages): 1 - 2pm
• Afterschool Classes:
• Ages 5–9: 3:30–4:30 pm
• Ages 10+: 4:45–6:00 pm
Term Schedule:
Week 1 & 2: Room Sign Collage & Decoupage
- Design a personalised name sign for a bedroom door
- Use collage techniques with magazine cut-outs, fabric, and textured paper
- Learn decoupage to add patterned layers and a glossy or matte finish
Week 3 & 4: Abstract Art & Creative Freestyle
- Experiment with brushwork, palette knives, and splattering to create bold, expressive abstract art
- Use acrylics and mixed media for texture and layering
- Second session allows free exploration of different materials and techniques before the big pottery project
Week 5: Pottery – Aquarium Diorama
- Hand-build the aquarium using a recycled glass jar as the base
- Start shaping sea creatures, plants, and coral using pinch and coil methods
- Carve out windows and create a unique design
Week 6: Pottery – Aquarium Diorama (Adding Details & Texture)
- Finish sculpting fish, seaweed, and other details
- Add textures for water, sand, and coral before letting the clay dry
Week 7: Painting Pottery – Bringing the Aquarium to Life
- Paint the dried pottery piece using acrylics
- Add details like shading, highlights, and texture effects
Week 8: Mixed Media Madness – Layering & Experimentation
- Combine painting, collage, and 3D elements
- Create a unique, textured mixed media artwork
Weeks 9 & 10: Final Project – Personal Masterpiece
- Students choose their favourite medium from the term
- Plan, create, and complete a personal artwork
We will be hosting a showcase at the end of the term to display all the children's work and creations!
