Kids' Art Classes at Paper Bird
Event description
Let your child’s creativity shine in our fun and imaginative art workshops, perfect for kids aged 6-12!
Our art workshops are play-based. We provide materials, a beautiful space in the bookshop and an enthusiastic and experienced facilitator. We focus on providing kids with time and encouragement so they can create their own stories and art.
This term, we'll be exploring clay, printmaking, food art, painting, polymer clay, collage, pop-ups, beading, sculpture, potion making and more.
All skill levels are welcome. Book ahead to secure your spot—spaces are limited. Please make sure to book a ticket for each session you would like to attend.

Get messy with paint and printing! We'll look at creating patterns, characters, scenes and more, experimenting with different kinds of marks created by leaves, sticks and seeds.
Monday 5 May: Collage
Cut, rip and glue! We'll look at breaking an image down into shapes, creating interesting textures, working from the background to the foreground, and balancing detail with larger shapes to create our own collage illustration.
Monday 12 May: Watercolour
Wash, drip, dab and swirl! We'll experiment with watercolour, looking at colour mixing and creating different effects with paintbrushes, dilution and layering.
Monday 19 May: Clay
Pinch, squeeze, smooth and shape! We'll look at different building techniques to bring our own clay ideas to life.
Monday 26 May: Printmaking

Monday 2 June: Potion-making
Science and sculpture combined! We'll experiment with a range of different materials to make our very own potions. We'll think about what they might be used for and design our own labels too.
Monday 9 June: FIMO
Squish, roll, shape and bake! We'll explore using FIMO, a kind of polymer clay, to bring our imagined 3D sculptures to life. We'll bake all creations and they will be available for pick-up after the workshop.
Monday 16 June: Pop-Ups
Let's explore paper sculpture! We'll practice basic pop-up techniques together before design our own pop-up card or mini-book to bring to life.
Monday 23 June: Beading
Design, string and tie! We'll design and bead bracelets, necklaces, bag charms or anklets.
Monday 30 June: Sculpture
Glue, stick, rip and cut! We'll use recycled and found materials to create wild and wacky sculptures. Will we make a castle? A ship? An animal?
