DAY 3 of KIDS IN THE KITCHEN SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM
Recipe: Chicken, Basil & Veggie Stir Fry with Infused Boiled Rice
Objective: To teach kids the different cooking techniques to maximise flavors & textures, and cook healthy meals
What will the kids be learning?
- Cooking at a high heat to infuse flavor
- Cutting veggies & using learned skills from class 1
- Infusing rice & how to maximise flavors
- Adding ingredients @ certain times & how it helps the final dish
- How to stop rice from going gluggy
- Sauteeing, Chopping & boards
- Knife safety & techniques
- Kitchen safety & hygiene

ABOUT KIDS IN THE KITCHEN SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM
Kids cooking in the kitchen should be fun & a really enjoyable part of growth & learning.
The best ways to learn are by getting your hands dirty & letting your senses experience new & exciting things, such as a great foundation for gaining confidence in the kitchen.
Over the weeks, we will introduce the fundamentals of cooking, knife skills, safety, hygiene & the different techniques in the kitchen. We will be cooking as much as we can from scratch and talking about the benefits of using fresh seasonal produce.
Along the way, we will also be looking at ways to help the environment & what we can do in the kitchen to play our part. There will be minimal waste, opportunities to learn about composting and a BONUS video & lesson (if you get the package!) on “How to get a garden ready for spring?” that will teach you how to start your own herb garden for the family.
