Event description

This group is best suited for children aged 9-12 years old.
Our emphasis in these classes is fun, creativity, self-expression and exploration - not perfection!
We will get our hands dirty, explore clay and basic techniques for hand building and glazing.
Each week we will work on a new project. Every child will complete their project (with guidance) to their own level of skill and creativity so each child's work will look slightly different. Some weeks will be dedicated to glazing.
Pottery is a great teacher. It helps to develop motor skills, helps us learn to manage emotions and feelings and build resilience, confidence and so much more. Everything does not always go to plan when working with clay, but that's ok, we can learn from it, fix it or start again. There are so many life lessons hidden in clay play.
If your child has special needs an adult will be required to stay with them.
We may get dirty so please send your child in play clothes or bring an apron. Please also bring a water bottle for drinking.
Instruction, clay, glazes, firing and use of tools are included in the price.
Please note:
Pottery takes time! We also need to allow time for the clay to dry before it is fired, and each piece is fired twice.
Most glazing will be done in class time during the final week, but it is possible that some pieces will need to be glazed for the kids.
Your child's final creations will be ready for collection approx. 7-14 days after the completion of the 5 classes.
Venue: Forrestfield Community Center, 24 Anderson Rd, Forrestfield WA
A minimum of 4 children are required for this class to run.

Tickets are not refundable but are transferrable to another child.
