  • Choose one day, two days or all three days.
  • Half or Full Day Workshop

Monday 20 December: CALMING MINDS | Superhero

This workshops theme is 'Superhero. Supporting the Superhero theme, kids will be invited to explore their own super powers through mindfulness (e.g. the power of breathing techniques to help us calm down, the power of focus to find balance in challenging poses etc).

Tuesday, 21 December: RESILIENCE| Catch your Dreams

This workshops theme is Resilience.

The children will learn practical tools and yoga and mindfulness skills to support coping mechanisms and resilience. We explore how we can bounce back from stress and challenges, in a mindful way.

This day is filled with practices and stories to foster resilience and social emotional learning for growing bodies and minds. Suitable for kids aged 4-12 years.

Wednesday, 22 December: TRANSFORMATION | Clay & Waterpaint

*Mindful Yogini*

This workshop specifically focuses on female Yoginis in their tween years (ages 7-12 approx) and explores growth and the ability to change. As we transition into the year 2022 (and move into our teenage years) we’re learning practical yoga and mindfulness skills to empower self awareness, build inner confidence and explore balanced perspectives and inner strengths.

The Art part of this workshop includes making our ornament or mindful reminder from clay, work with water colours and mindful connection to self.

Your tween girls will take home their unique artwork, practical skills to support mental and physical health and new friendships. A fantastic workshop to find some calm during the busy christmas period and to support ‘transformation’.

Benefits of Yoga and Mindfulness for Children
Research continues to show that yoga has positive benefits for overall health and wellness. Kids and teens both have a lot to gain from the movement and breath that yoga has to offer

Yoga supports physical fitness.

As a form of aerobic exercise, yoga provides a great option to help children and teens be active. Plus, as a non-competitive activity with low-aerobic intensity, yoga is ideal for children and teens who may not feel comfortable participating in other sports.

Yoga supports the brain.

As kids and teens grow, their brains require support to help them not only learn and perform in school, but also to develop skills and habits to become balanced, healthy adults.

Yoga helps to reduce stress and anxiety.

Kids and teens are stressed.

In fact, according to the Telethon Kids Institute in partnership with Roy Morgan Research in 2013-14, one in seven children between the ages of 4 and 17 experience forms of anxiety or ADHD.

Physical activity is known to help relieve stress, but yoga may go further than exercise alone. Studies show that yoga has a positive effect on reducing stress and improving overall mental and emotional wellbeing.

Yoga improves sleep quality.

Research also shows that a regular yoga practice can improve sleep quality by decreasing sleep onset time and number of awakenings while increasing total sleep time, sleep efficiency, and subjective sleep quality. This is especially important for children and teens, who require sleep for healthy growth and development.

Yoga supports social-emotional learning.

Social emotional learning (SEL) addresses students’ social-emotional needs in the context of learning.

Through SEL, students master skills that are essential for success in school, work, and life. Yoga provides students with the ability to identify who and how they are being and bring them into who and how they want to be.

Additionally, Yoga supports the children in the following ways:

Creativity - Play - Motor Skill Development - Sense of Identity - Body Image - Personal Safety - Acceptance - Emotions
