Kids School Holiday Art Classes
Event description
Kids School Holiday Art Classes Painting & Ceramics
I'm so excited to host art classes at my studio within the Timbermill Art Studios, Bulli!
These classes are for different age groups with painting 5-8 years olds and ceramics 9-12yrs old. With my background in art making and my various roles working with children including art teaching at a rehabilitation, running classes with UOW and my many years in disability support work I'm so excited all my passions have merged together to form these classes.
EXPLORE PAINTING
DATE & TIME: 15 or 17 April 8:00am-9:30am
AGE: 5-8yrs
Each student will learn the basic building blocks of painting and improve existing skills in a fun and encouraging environment.
Inspiration for this class is drawn from our Australian fauna, as I love to bush walk, so we will be painting a native bird with surrounding leaves and branches. Having a set image will help the kids focus on learning scale and basic colour mixing.
This class also naturally focuses on hand eye co-ordination and encourages each child's own imagination to inspire elements of their painting. Each young artist will be able to take home their own canvas with their creation to show off proudly.!
MATERIALS SUPPLIED: Canvas, acrylic paint (non-toxic), paint brushes, paint smocks.
CERAMICS MAKE A MUG
DATE & TIME: 15 or 17 April 10:30am-12:00pm
AGE: 9-12yrs
Let's make a mug from clay! In this class I like to teach a hand building and wheel throwing techniques. Hand building can be meticulous and take time to create the right shaped mug adding design elements as you go. Wheel throwing is fast paced and skill based. I offer both because it gives the students the opportunity to learn two slightly different skills in the same class! Plus I just purchased a new ceramic wheel (that I LOVE) and I want to share it with everyone!
Each student will get to make a MUG and a hand built item of their choosing.
*please note this clay will take 1-2 weeks to dry and get fired. Which means it will not be returning home with each student straight away. I will message you once they have been fired and glazed by me and they can be picked up from the Timbermill at an agreed upon time. This ensures the will be food safe.
MATERIALS SUPPLIED: clay, smocks.
LOCATION: both Explore painting & Ceramics Make a Mug classes are at the same location 2-6 Molloy St, Bulli 2516
