Event description

It’s 7am. Start of a big day for Australian Environment Minister Gwen Malkin. She’s about to launch the government’s brand new environmental research program, live on talkback radio. And tonight, there’s a classic rock band playing at Parliament House, and Gwen is the guest of honour.

By 7pm, in 12 hours time, Gwen Malkin’s career will be in shreds. She’ll be kneeling at the sink in a public bathroom getting ready to resign.

By 7am, in 24 hours time, Gwen Malkin will be the most popular politician on the planet, with a global online following bigger than Australia.

Kill Climate Deniers is a bold, dark comedy that tackles the big questions of the climate debate. It tackles Australian climate politics head on, using extremism and satire to encourage us to think about our world, our politics, ourselves and climate change

‘Kill Climate D*niers’ follows the fictional Australian Environment Minister, Gwen Malkin’s announcement of the Government’s over-funded project to block out the sun as a ‘solution’ to the climate disaster. Following this announcement, during a Fleetwood Mac concert in Canberra’s Parliament house, a group of climate activists take Parliament House hostage in an attempt to force Australian politicians to face the realities of climate change and their complete incompetence in managing the issue. While the show is absurd and extreme, its characters, language and plot points are grounded in the reality of modern Australian politics and politicians, and their complete incompetence in dealing with issues including, but certainly not limited to, climate change.
