Overview

Drawing from global and diverse industries, you will learn how to become more effective at decision making, to make the tough calls as a leader, a manager which in turn ensures your organisation is focused on the what is meaningful in your context.

We will cover off the neuroscience behind how your brain and emotions work under pressure, but also how this can trick you into holding fast when letting go would be better. The need to put time aside to work on the big decisions, and more so, get out of your own way to make great decisions

Working through several decision-making models to help make the strategic decisions, see risk and upside, and get clarity on how to.

By the end of this foundational skills course, the discussion, tools and techniques you will have been exposed to will enable you to:

1. Learn the common challenges facing today’s leaders and how to perform under pressure

2. Draw from diverse industries and geographies and become skilled in a range of decision-making models and styles that are adaptable and applicable in today’s complex environments

3. Learn how to ‘Kill your Darlings’ so your organisation’s strategies are fit-for-purpose.

Melissa Davies - With deep experience over twenty years in commercialising thousands of new ideas and products in large listed engineering companies and agile tech start-ups and more across Australia and NZ, Melissa is committed to helping business shape and implement strategies that enable them and their leaders to thrive today and well into the future. To do so, leaders need to form and lead diverse teams and make tough decisions.


This Workshop is $1150pp including GST and Humanitix booking fees.

Refund and Cancellation policy A written notification of withdrawals or substitutions must be sent via email to The University of Canterbury Business School Executive Education Team at execed@canterbury.ac.nz Substitutions Participants who have registered for a place on a course may be substituted at no extra charge, where at least two business days’ notice is given prior to the course start date, via email to execed@canterbury.ac.nz Cancellations UC Executive Education reserves the right to cancel any course or programme for any reason. Fees are fully refundable for courses cancelled by us, however UC will not be responsible for airfares, accommodation or any other associated costs incurred by participants. No refund will be given where the participant fails to attend the course, or if the participant withdraws from the course at any stage, for any reason. Any cancellations received fewer than 14 days from the course start date are subject to different levels of refund, excluding GST as detailed below. Where a cancellation is received 15 or more days before course commencement, a full refund will be made. Notification received: 15 or more days : A full refund will be provided 8 – 14 days : 50% of course fee 7 days or less : No refund.
