KING LEAR @Scotland Island
Event description
Shakespeare's Tragedy of King Lear is the story of a strong leader who makes a fatally weak decision. Dividing his land to his daughters based on their proclamations of love. His misjudgement leading to betrayal and madness, loss and redemption.
War raging within and brewing without. The King is torn between his humane instincts and his pride. Tragedy's triggered when hubris silences his fatherly instincts. These are perennial themes, so King Lear is set in post-apocalyptic Australia. A Mad Max-like future.
A time when the humanity is deep in the wilderness in search of itself. Music by Radiohead.
