LIVE STORYTELLING FOR GROWNUPS

Get ready to laugh, gasp, blush and cry all at the same time with sex-positive and inclusive stories told live on stage.

This month you'll hear from award-winning author, Luke Carman (An Elegant Young Man, An Ordinary Ecstasy); actor Duncan Fellows (Deadloch, The Let Down); burlesque bombshell and Harvard scholar, HJ Henderson; the unforgettable Dan McIvor; and your sexually intrepid, ever irreverent host, Donné Restom.

If you're a fan of events like Story Club, Bravewords Live, Queerstories, or Erotic Fan Fiction, you'll love this; it's storytelling done kinky.

Coming? Remember, respect, consent, non-judgment and an open heart will make you a better lover - and the best kind of listener.

AUGUST LINEUP

Luke Carman
LUKE CARMAN

Luke Carman’s debut work of fiction, An Elegant Young Man, won the 2014 NSW Premier’s New Writing Award and was shortlisted for the ALS Gold Medal, the Steele Rudd Short Story Prize and the Readings New Writing Award. His essay collection, Intimate Antipathies, was published in June 2019. His collection of stories, An Ordinary Ecstasy, was published in July 2022.

Duncan Fellows
DUNCAN FELLOWS

Duncan is an actor living on Darkinjung land here on the coast. He has worked in Australian TV, theatre and voice over for the last 20 years (and then some) with credits that include Deadloch, The Letdown, We Interrupt This Broadcast, The Messenger, At Home with Julia, Laid, Comedy Inc, Life Support, All Saints and Home and Away. He has told stories here on the Coast at Bravewords Live and Words on the Waves festival’s edition of Story Time. When he can’t get a gig on screen, Duncan moonlights as alter ego Glenn Twenty, and teaches drama to students on the coast and in Sydney.

HJ Henderson
HJ HENDERSON

HJ Henderson is a writer, mother, and washed-up showgirl. When she's not instigating kitchen dance parties in Tumbi Umbi, she's completing a MLA at Harvard. She's had some bits and bobs published, and is tonight reading an excerpt from a novel she's writing.

Dan McIvor
DAN MCIVOR

Kink in the Tale favourite, Dan McIvor has spent many hours stumbling about on a stage. As a front man and violinist he's bellowed, growled and vomited into his motorcycle helmet too many times to count. When he sings he sounds like Tom Waits. He fits everywhere and nowhere and his moustache is the stuff of legends. He is a puppeteer, lifesaver, ex front line community service worker, and once you've met him, you'll never forget him.

Donné Restom
YOUR HOST, DONNE RESTOM

Long time lover of eroticism, irreverence, and saying out loud the things that make you blush, Donné was the sex advice columnist for Ralf magazine's horny teens in her twenties, and the sex writer for the confused and exhausted mums of Kidspot in her thirties. She is the host of Words on the Waves' Late Night Lit and has told stories at Bravewords Live and Stories that Stir.
