Description

The Esplanade Association (EA), in partnership with 2026 EA Annual Meeting Speaker and Naturalist Stephanie Fletcher, will lead a guided nature and photography walk through the park! We will walk around 1 mile, identifying species that call Esplanade home and learning how to photograph them. All ages and experiences are welcome!

The Esplanade is home to a variety of species from painted turtles to double-crested cormorants. You can view sightings on the Esplanade on iNaturalist—tracked by Stephanie! All tours will meet outside the Union Boat Club Boathouse. We will walk along the Charles River Esplanade to the Fairfield Footbridge, looking for species on land and in the water. This tour was created in light of new educational kiosk signs around the park.

Bring your phones or professional cameras, binoculars, hand microscopes, or simply walk and listen along! After the tour, please send photos for us to share with the group! The walking tour will take around one hour, and there will be 30 minutes set aside after for questions. Please meet 10 minutes before the start time. The tour will start exactly at that time!

Please wear comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. If you require any accommodations to participate, please let your guide or a member of the Esplanade Association staff know when you arrive.

Pre-registration is highly recommended to receive timely updates. Please cancel your order if you can no longer attend.

This tour is part of the Esplanade Association’s guided tour series. Learn more and register for other events in this series here. Please contact ngong@esplanade.org for any questions!
