KIRTAN - Beecroft Bush Bhakti
Description
Welcoming you to come along to the first 'Bush Bhakti' Kirtan in 2119! We have chosen the beautiful location of Ahimsa in Cheltenham to allow for a peaceful Sunday morning gathering surrounded by native trees, birds and plants.
This group of hosts have collaborated together many times for Kirtan events, specifically in the Eastern Suburbs. We have decided to extend our gatherings to a broader community to share the wonderful experience of bhakti yoga, music and mantra!
Each ticket includes a $5 donation to The National Trust (responsible for this beautiful property) covers event expenses and the remainder will be donated on to HORNSBY KU-RING-GAI WOMEN'S SHELTER.
What is KIRTAN? Kirtan is an ancient interactive musical practice derived from a Sanskrit word meaning “to call, recite, or narrate.” It involves a call-and-response style of singing, where a lead singer chants a sacred mantra or name of a Goddess or God and the group sings it back. Kirtan is an important part of Bhakti Yoga, which focuses on devotion and love. It is often accompanied by traditional instruments like the harmonium and tabla, as well as modern instruments such as guitars and drums. Anyone can participate, as kirtan is about sincere devotion rather than having a perfect singing voice. The practice helps quiet the mind, reduce distracting thoughts, and create a shared sense of peace, connection, and community.
