Description

How is Kit the Koala being used to support conversations about FASD with children and families?

Watch Kit the Koala on YouTube

In this 1-hour webinar, Nicole Hewlett will be yarning with practitioners and an Aboriginal parent with lived experience of FASD about how Kit the Koala is being used, and what becomes possible when conversations about FASD start with a story.

The webinar will also launch the new Kit the Koala companion resources – a practice guide and six yarning cards designed to support respectful, strengths-based conversations about FASD with families. The resources will be introduced and shared with participants during the webinar.

Intended audience:
This webinar is for anyone yarning with families about FASD including those working in health, child and family services, child protection, education, disability and community services.

About the presenter:

Nicole Hewlett is a proud Melukerdee (Palawa) woman, researcher and knowledge translation specialist. She holds a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) and a Master of Public Health and is completing a PhD focused on the development and knowledge translation of the Australian FASD Indigenous Framework.

Nicole has more than 10 years’ experience using strengths-based, healing-informed and culture-centred approaches to make research meaningful and useful for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. She is a co-developer of the Australian FASD Indigenous Framework, the creator of Kit the Koala and a member of the Australian FASD Guidelines Development Group.

This webinar will be recorded and a link shared with participants after the event.
