About the presenter
Alison Deslandes is a clinical academic sonographer based in Adelaide, Australia (Kaurna land). She is internationally recognised as a leading expert in the use of transvaginal ultrasound for the diagnosis of endometriosis—a clinical and research passion that has shaped much of her career.

Alison is a PhD candidate at the Robinson Research Institute as part of the IMAGENDO project at the University of Adelaide. Her research focuses on the use of artificial intelligence as a self-learning tool for sonographers learning to diagnose endometriosis with transvaginal ultrasound. She also holds a Masters, completed in 2022, which similarly focused on the diagnosis of endometriosis.

She is a Past-President of the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM), where she has served on the Board of Directors since 2018. She is also an Associate Editor for the Journal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences, a peer reviewer for multiple journals, and an Early-Career Research Ambassador for the World Endometriosis Society. In 2022, she was awarded a Fellowship of the Australasian Sonographers Association.

Alison has been invited to speak at major international conferences including the World Congress of Endometriosis, ISUOG World Congress, Asia Pacific Initiative on Reproduction Congress, and the WFUMB World Congress of Ultrasound. She is passionate about empowering sonographers to develop confidence in scanning for endometriosis and helping reduce diagnostic delays.
