Event description

Come and learn how to calculate an estimate of your on-farm greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and how knowing your number can help you with productivity and supply.

Event details:

Join Murray Local Land Services to learn how you can stay ahead in meeting government and industry targets to reduce agricultural emissions. With growing supply chain pressures, it’s important to understand both the risks and opportunities linked to carbon and emissions.

At this session, the NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development’s (DPIRD) On-Farm Carbon Advice team will guide you through calculating an estimate of your own on-farm greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

This workshop is designed for farmers from beef and sheep, dairy and mixed farming systems and will cover:

  • Why is it important to know your on-farm emissions profile.

  • Identify sources and sinks of on-farm emissions on your farm.

  • Understand the process of measuring, calculating and tracking emissions over time.

  • Learn to navigate online GHG accounting framework tools.

  • Learn opportunities to avoid/reduce on-farm emissions or sequester carbon.

Participants will have the opportunity to get a personalised Farm Carbon Management Plan on their property with the DPIRD On-Farm Carbon Advice team.  This is designed to support on-farm decision-making when considering carbon farming opportunities on your property and identify practical pathways to lower emissions.

Please register by Wednesday, 8 October 2025.

Please bring:

  • Farm management data

  • A laptop

Note: If you are interested in learning more about your on-farm emissions but can’t make this event, please reach out to the Murray LLS Natural Capital advisor about running a similar workshop in your area or taking part in the DPIRD’s Farm Carbon Management Plan project.

On-Farm Carbon Advice Project is a joint initiative between NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) and the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) cofunded by Primary Industries Productivity and Abatement Program (PIPAP).
