Know Your Onion

It's with admiration that we welcome you to the Final Session of 'Know Your Onion'...

This is a get-together for Men of all ages and walks of life. A welcoming space where men can take a break, reflect, connect and grow through the teachings of local experts, storytellers and engagement with others. Starting Thursday night 14th November from 5-8:30pm, the team at Eumundi Coffee Roasters (ECR) with the help of local Matre'd and MC Brad McDonald (ATG health), we will host a night like no other! With donation dinner options (inc. vegan) and drinks available for purchase you can comfortably immerse yourself in the nights magick.

Our fifth get-together we are focusing on Sex and Intimacy. Gracing our stage will be local Father, Sexuality Educator, Sexologist and Sex coach Cam Francis.

Cam Fraser is a senior sexuality educator at inyourskin®. Cameron is the current Deputy Chair of the Society of Australian Sexologists. He received his Graduate Diploma in Sexology from the School of Population Health, Curtin University. With expertise in the areas of positive masculinity and healthy male sexuality, Cameron has over 5000 hours of clinical experience as a counsellor.

In 2010, Cameron was honoured by Lifeline WA with a community leadership award for championing the cause of mental health and emotional wellbeing.

In 2017, Cameron led one of the teams for the Western Australian AIDS Council’s ‘Keep It Safe Summer’ program, a targeted sexual health and safety campaign for young people at “Leavers.”

Cameron has been a keynote speaker at several events, including an examination of sexting at TEDxPerth in 2019, an emphasising of pleasure-positivity at the Australasian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine in 2023, and a discussion of online misogynistic masculinity influencers at the Society of Australian Sexologists’ Sexology in Practice Symposium in 2023, as well as a critical look at pornography and young people at Edith Cowan University’s Pornposium also in 2023

Our Storyteller is Alec Conway. Alec's dynamic personality is sure to bring a unique and engaging story to the nights theme; 'Sex & Intimacy'. Alec is a local landscaper, prior to this Alec was a Law student and delved into the chiropractic field. From a young age Alec was involved in intimate relationships. Guided by the caring and loving nature of his father, Alec traversed numerous relationships from high profile partners set in the depths of a new-age church to an affair with an older woman.

Alec's drive for truth and understanding in his life alongside his views of the modern world has led to a tale filled with boundary pushing, courage and action, as well as some downright foolishness. His own style of humour with a 'matter of fact' tone will likely ruffle some feathers as he traverses the vast landscape of emotions present in his story.

"You are welcome to come and listen to some of the hairy situations I've found myself in as I attempt to share some of the wisdom I have derived during my time engaging with these wild and potentially powerful beings, known as women. We'll wrap up this Finale with a reflection from Tom (ECR) & Brad (ATG) giving thanks to everyone who has participated, shared and facilitated over the course of these events. 

Know Your Onion is simply about creating a supportive space for Men in our community. This is not a program designed to answer questions, it's not a therapy session or a fun night out with the boys... This is a unique community project rooted in rich, organic soil and how it will grow and what we learn from it is a mystery...
