Event description

Plants are the basis of the beautiful and complex natural systems on which we all depend, and knowing plants helps us enjoy and protect nature. This workshop is for gardeners, permaculturalists, bush regenerators, plant propagators, bush walkers and anyone who wants to be able to know their plants and how they fit into the web of life.

Utilising Northey Street City Farm’s diverse range of plants, Dick Copeman, the farm’s plant guru, will help you recognise the features that identify plants, and the botanical families that they belong to. He will also help you use some of the resources available for plant ID and indicate others that you can access.

By the end of this workshop you will:

  1. Know how to really see and observe the features of plants

  2. Have the confidence to use reference books and keys to identify plants

  3. Appreciate the many roles that plants play in nature.
