Knowledge Sharing Forum: Enhancing decision making in emergency management
Event description
Over the last two years this Natural Hazards Research Australia and Central Queensland University project has focused on improving our understanding of Australian (and UK) emergency management decision-making tools, training and practice.
Based on this research, we have developed some prototype resources to help enhance the training of practitioners’ operational decision making.
The session will provide an update on this research and use an interactive case study to highlight how these new prototype training resources can be used. These resources cover some key decision-making concepts, unpack how goal seduction and confirmation bias can undermine effective decision making and highlight the role that psychological pressure can play in decisions. Please feel free to share this invitation with other colleagues who may have an interest in this research. More information on this project is available on the NHRA project website - Enhancing decision making in emergency management.
We look forward to discussing this research with you.
