Koala Conservation Workshop: Empowering Landholders for Habitat Restoration
Event description
Come along to this free workshop for landholders to learn more about koala conservation and habitat restoration. The workshop will be held at a property in Bald Knob where we planted 350 trees in June last year as part of our Koala Habitat project. (Note that the address will be provided upon registration).
In this workshop you will hear from:
- Melinda and Damian Hooper - landholders at Bald Knob, who have been undertaking habitat restoration on their property alongside the support from Hinterland Bush Links
- Cam Burton - Nurseries Manager at Barung Landcare. Cam will share about some of the species that are suitable for planting for koalas, as well as typical soil types and geology for different species.
- Clancy Hall (PhD) - Sunshine Coast Council Conservation Officer, who will share about some of the great work that the Sunshine Coast Council are doing to monitor koalas and restore habitat for them.
- Sean FitzGibbon (PhD) - Wildlife Researcher at the University of Queensland who will talk about the latest research on koala behaviour and their habitat preferences.
- Aleisha Keating (Manager) and Louise Court (Project Officer), who will share about Hinterland Bush Links' Koala Habitat project and other initiatives to support landholders in habitat restoration
The workshop will be interactive and there will be an opportunity for landholders to share their experiences in habitat restoration and learn from each other.
Light refreshments will be served for afternoon tea.
Please wear suitable clothing and footwear for a 10-15 minute walk on a gravel track.
Event address will be emailed to guests after registration, please keep an eye out for this as it may filter to a spam folder.
