Kompa is a popular music genre originating from Haiti. Developed in the 1950s by Nemours Jean-Baptiste, it blends traditional Haitian rhythms with influences from jazz, Latin music, and Caribbean styles. Known for its smooth melodies, rhythmic guitar lines, and brass sections, Kompa is a staple in Haitian culture and widely celebrated in the Haitian diaspora. It's often performed at social gatherings, festivals, and parties, accompanied by energetic and intimate dancing.
