Korean Natural Farming
Event description
Growing nutrient-dense food at home
Food growing practices directly impact both the nutrient density of the food you produce and the health of the plant you are growing.
The nutrients in the food you grow include minerals, vitamins, phytochemicals, fibers, and sugars and their proportions to each other. In recent commercial agricultural systems, nutrients only played a role if they helped with shelf life, ease of transportation, and looks, which narrowed the amount of nutrients focussed on to a handful.
In this workshop, we will look at Korean Natural Farming practices and methods to feed the soil microorganisms and the plants growing on top to increase the nutrients in the food you grow at home. We will look beyond just nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus (NPK) to other elements and microorganisms to help with the nutrients availability to a plant in an optimised growing environment.
As we nurture the soil and help it to gain its health, the plants growing on top can have a chance to absorb just the nutrients it needs to be healthy. Do not forget that healthy soil leads to nutrient-dense plants, and healthy plants help us gain the life force we need, said Yoda.
