Workshop Title: Hangeul & Hello: Your First Hour of Korean
Duration: 60 Minutes
Goal: Learn to read basic Hangeul, introduce yourself, and understand Korean polite greetings.
Workshop Schedule (1 Hour)
1. Welcome & Introduction
Action: Instructor introduces themselves in Korean (안녕하세요!).
Icebreaker: Ask participants why they want to learn Korean (K-drama, K-pop, travel).
Goal: Set a welcoming tone and explain that Korean is phonetic and easy to learn.
2. Introduction to Hangeul
The Concept: Explain that King Sejong created Hangeul to be learned in a short time.
Basic Consonants & Vowels: Introduce key consonants (ㄱ, ㄴ, ㅁ, ㅅ, ㅇ) and basic vowels (ㅏ, ㅣ, ㅗ, ㅜ, ㅡ).
Activity: "Match the sound." Display a letter (e.g., ㅁ) and have students identify it as 'm'.
Structure: Explain how to combine consonants and vowels into blocks (e.g., ㄱ + ㅏ = 가 [ga]).
Natural conversational phases or tailor made modules can be arranged.
