As we celebrate International Women's Day I invite you to join me in discovering the KOVAL distillery. Based in Chicago, KOVAL is an independently, women-owned company.

We are excited to taste through their core range and a couple limited editions and chat with their local brand ambassador, Jamie Stout.

About the brand:

KOVAL is an internationally award winning distillery based in Chicago. All KOVAL whiskies are single barrel, increasing transparency and allowing each bottle to be traced back to the field on which the grains were grown. KOVAL is an independently, women-owned company an all of KOVAL’s spirits are certified USDA organic and OU kosher. KOVAL uses unmalted grains so that one can taste the spirit of unadulterated natural grains and uses state-of-the-art technology to maintain consistency in both the mashing and distillation process.

About each expression:

80 Proof Rye -KOVAL Rye, made with a unique mash bill of 100% organic rye grain, is a surprisingly fresh and light whiskey, with mellow and somewhat sweet notes of maple and candy corn, ending with a classically spicy finish. Works beautifully in traditional cocktails such as a Manhattan, Sazerac or Scofflaw, where its grain-forward spiciness balances out the sweetness of other ingredients.

94 Proof Bourbon-With a mash bill of 51% corn and 49% millet, KOVAL Bourbon offers a drinking experience that is balanced, approachable, and unparalleled. The unusual grain combination provides notes of mango chutney and vanilla on the palate, with a peppery caramel finish.

94 Proof Four Grain-KOVAL -Four Grain is Distilled from a mash bill of oat, malted barley, rye, and wheat. This whiskey is aged in heavily charred new oak barrels from Minnesota and bottled single barrel at 94 proof, using state-of-the-art technologies to achieve precise consistency and quality. The four grains define its depth with a banana nose, creamy palate, and spicy finish. Perfect sipped straight, or with a single sphere of ice.

As the West Coast Market Manager for KOVAL Distillery, Jamie Stout has traveled throughout the West Coast presenting and educating for the innovative and internationally award winning distillery. From food & spirits festivals to cocktail classes and charity events, she has introduced KOVAL to thousands of people for more than 7 years. As the spokesperson for KOVAL, she is responsible for introducing their unique process to enthusiasts and professionals alike. She resides in Los Angeles with her three boys.
