Topic: Contemporary Challenges Facing Christian Families


Keynote Speaker: Patrick Bryne, National Civic Council, President

Patrick has a BA from the University of Queensland majoring in economics. He later earned a BTheol and gained a Diploma in Teaching.

After several years as secondary school teacher in Brisbane, in the early 1980s he moved to Melbourne to become a journalist with the NCC’s News Weekly.

His areas of research and writing include: modern hostile ideologies, economic globalisation, East Asian regional affairs, overseas aid, domestic and international economics, agricultural policy, public policy on life, marriage and family issues. He also campaigned with a number of rural groups on important issues facing Australian farmers.

He has contributed to two books, Getting on Track (2000) and Getting on Track: A Business Plan for Australia (2004), and co-authored a book on the water crisis, High and Dry, how free trade in water will cripple Australian agriculture (2006).

Arising out of the 2017 marriage campaign, he researched gender identity laws and corporate codes of conduct impacting the freedoms of religion and freedom of speech that are necessary for a tolerant democracy. He recently published a text book on gender ideology, Transgender: one shade of grey (2018) and a short book on this issue, The little grey book on sex and transgender (2019).
