Description

Join the Agroecology & Food Sovereignty Alliance (AFSA) for this farmer led Agroecology Dialogue hosted at Kumbartcho Farm, the first farm to be donated to the Agroecology Land Trust (ALT) and what will be the ALT’s first case study: a farmer eager to secure their land for perpetual agroecology-oriented use.

Shane Joyce from Kumbartcho Farm and AFSA invites farmers, food system disruptors and partners to this informal, conversational and participatory exploration of food sovereignty and agroecology in practice.

Facilitated by Tammi Jonas, AFSA's Focal Point for Farmers and Antoine Lenique, AFSA's General Coordinator and Chair of the Agroecology Land Trust Steering Committee, the dialogue will move from what we understand as relational and mutual obligations to Land and one another, through questions of infrastructure, supply chains, labour and collective responsibility, towards the economic principles underpinning AFSA’s work to develop the Agroecology Land Trust.

Drawing on the years of collective work behind the Jonai meat collective, we will consider how socially just, economically and environmentally sustainable alternatives can be built together by questioning our assumptions and values, reframing our priorities around fairness and relationality, and thinking beyond individual interests towards the collective wellbeing of people and planet.

We will start at 9am and will break for a potluck lunch in the middle of the day.

This is a fantastic opportunity to come together, share knowledge, build solidarity, and strengthen the movement for agroecology, local food systems and food sovereignty.

Support AFSA and Pay the Rent

Ticket prices for the Agroecology Dialogue are kept as low as possible to enable as many people as possible to participate in the discussion.

If you have capacity to contribute with a donation in addition to your ticket price, this will help to cover the full costs of the event, and support AFSA's work advocating for food sovereignty in Australia. Your support is greatly appreciated, and enables the dialogues to be an inclusive and democratic space for the food sovereignty movement in Australia.

In addition to supporting AFSA’s work, we have also included an option to Pay the Rent to local First Peoples in your region. This is an optional contribution for attendees wishing to offer a gesture of reparation and acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded.
