About Brotha Mike, our leader, and his dedication to bringing the joys of his heritage to the wider community

Michael A Blount was born in Philadelphia PA, raised by two very community active Pastors. Fostering a church base that specialized in serving people battling addiction, and coping through mental illness. In church, Michael was referred to as Brotha Mike, and was quickly appointed to lead the children of the congregation, while being it's lead drummer. It was here Brotha Mike discovered the relationship between rhythm, and bringing people together.
Through the Church, Afrocentric celebrations were hosted to unite and uplift people. A predominant one being Kwanzaa, passionately led by his godmother who passed in April of 2023. Brotha Mike has been handed the torch as one of the “keepers of the culture” and now is aligned with the conviction of joyfully sharing the black African diaspora into the community. As well as instilling and inspiring the next generation, to hold these principles forged from historical events close to their hearts. Actively nurturing compassion, fostering cultural curiosity, and igniting people to lead a life of joy with a foundation of gratitude, Brotha Mike moves forward building bridgeways. Reminding us the *Why behind what makes being alive so wonderful.
