La Descarga (meaning ‘rhythm explosion’) make their long awaited live debut up from Melbourne on Meeanjin country. Recently celebrating their 10yr anniversary as a group, they play the sizzling sounds from the tropical coasts of the coffee & sugar plantation lands of Colombia - Atlantico / Carribean / Pacifico Cumbia, Gaita, Palenque, Porro, Puya, Currulao, Mapalé and more! Traditional flutes (‘Gaitas’) combine with raw afro-latin percussion and electrifying singing and dance for an immersion of Colombian heritage roots music culture!
