Peace Labs: Meeting Yourself
Description
In this lab, we look at the one who has been doing the listening, and the reacting, all along. We look at the story you carry about who you are — the sentences that begin "I'm the kind of person who…", and how that story walks into a hard conversation a half-step ahead of you, already braced. Where it keeps you steady. Where it grips too tightly. What's here when it loosens.
Looking at yourself this directly isn't always comfortable. We go slowly, and you're always free to pass. Nothing about you needs fixing to take part.
Through guided reflection, small-group exercises, and shared inquiry, you'll spend a bit of time with someone you've known your whole life and may never have quite met.
What you'll leave with
A clearer view of the story you tell about yourself, and how it shows up when things get tense. Simple ways to notice when that story is running a conversation instead of you. And a felt sense of the steadiness underneath it. Something to come back to the next time a conversation heats up.
Our mantra is "peace is the experience of knowing yourself." This lab is where we take that at its word.
What to Expect
Peace Labs are small, participatory gatherings where ideas become practices. Rather than sitting through a lecture, participants are invited into reflection, dialogue, guided exercises, and direct experience.
Participation is always invitational. You are welcome to engage at the level that feels right for you.
No previous meditation, or mindfulness experience is necessary.
To ensure this work has depth and safety, we intentionally keep it intimate, as a small-group practice space,
