    Lachlan McKenzie Quintet

    Lachlan McKenzie is a musician who has gained recognition both nationally and internationally for his formidable abilities as a jazz trumpeter and composer. Born and bred in Brisbane but Sydney-based since 2021, Lachlan has had the opportunity to perform & record with various well-known artists including James Morrison, Andrew Robertson Big Band, Andrew Dickeson, Aaron Blakey, Dan Barnett Big Band, Dave Panichi Big Band, Louise Denson, Steve Russell, and Zac Hurren. Recently, Lachlan toured his quartet to Osaka, Japan to perform at the 25th annual Takatsuki Jazz Street Festival (2023) & earlier this year performed at leading jazz clubs in Seoul, South Korea. Lachlan released his debut album “Ruminations on a Theme” in 2018 and will release his second album entitled “Departures” early next year.

    JMI Jazz Orchestra

    The JMI Jazz Orchestra is an 18-piece big band made of up of students and staff from the Jazz Music Institute led by Josh Hatcher. The JMI Jazz Orchestra pays tribute to the incredible music of Duke Ellington and Count Basie. Through performing the music of these legends gives the students a strong foundation of understanding the breadth of Big Band music. The JMI Jazz Orchestra performs regularly around Brisbane at various locations and community festivals. The JMI Jazz Orchestra is an 18-piece big band made of up of students and staff from the Jazz Music Institute.
