First up we've got ...
LADY KING is the new Soul/RnB project from the mind of Mona Vale’s local girl Lara King. Lara grew up singing and listening to the tunes of Sade, Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys and Whitney Houston. Having studied classical cello and piano for years and playing in bands such as Joesphy Liddy & the Skeleton Horse and Salvador Dali Llama, Lady King became a return to Lara’s roots of soul, jazz and RnB. Reminiscent of Sade, Amy Winehouse and D’Angelo. Lady King’s sound delivers unrelenting grooves with soulful vocals to feed your weary hearts and get your feet moving!
Round out the live music lineup ...
Born into an Egyptian family and raised in Sydney’s west, Nardean began her musical exploration at the age of 22. As a consequence of growing up within a culture that did not support the notion of a woman becoming a musician - let alone a genre bending, thought provoking, ass shaking contemporary hip hop artist - she was forced to overcome some serious obstacles in her journey.
After a few short years of exploring her voice, Nardean has cemented herself as a force to be reckoned with in the Australian Hip Hop scene. Traversing rap, singing and poetry, her music is an eclectic mix of heartfelt lyricism and honest self reflection, contrasted with queen anthems and middle finger raising bangers.
Nardean has coined the term “post hop” to describe her style. She is heavily influenced by hip hop, while also drawing on elements of neo-soul, electronica, glitch and RnB. She sits in a pocket of the musical realm that is mostly uncharted, yet buzzing and burgeoning.
Keeping the vibes going throughtout the day will be resident DJs to be announced.
