Hike for a Cure - Saturday, 20 March 2027 - community, connection and purpose in the Southern Alps, where hikers will genuinely feel and experience something unique - the exhilarating hike up two iconic peaks: Breast Peak and Breast Hill.
Set within Lake Hāwea Station’s high-country terrain, this self-paced hike invites you to move at your own rhythm through some of Aotearoa’s most striking landscapes. From valley tracks to summit climbs, each route reveals the raw beauty of the station.
Whether returning or joining for the first time, the day is defined by shared energy, personal challenge and purpose.
Every step supports vital breast cancer research in Aotearoa - helping bring us closer to a future where breast cancer is prevented, detected earlier and more effectively treated.
The Challenge
This event is about the journey, not the finish line. Hikes are out-and-back tracks and designed for anyone with a sense of adventure and a love of wild, scenic tracks.
Airstrip Return - 5 km A relaxed introduction to the landscape
Saddle Return - 10 km A rewarding mid-distance journey through challenging steep section of high-country terrain
Breast Peak Summit - 20 km (~1,000 m climb) A challenging ascent with sweeping 360° alpine views
Double Summit (Breast Peak + Breast Hill) - 26 km (~1,500 m climb) The ultimate endurance challenge across iconic ridgelines

Whether travelling from near or far, this early release allows you to plan ahead with ease and confidence.
Surrounded by flourishing regenerative pastures, wildflowers and edible flora, guests are immersed in the heart of a working high-country station - the land that shapes both the menu and the ethos of Lake Hāwea Station.
Expect a menu curated by celebrated chef Dane Archery of Archery & Co., inspired by the land and shaped by locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, alongside engaging conversation and live entertainment, with more to be announced in the months ahead.
