LANDSCAN sustainable farm management - Murrumbateman and surrounds

LANDSCAN assists land managers to assess natural resources, to better match land use to land capability, and to balance production, profit and sustainability.

Join South East Local Land Services' Jo Powells and Cas Weiske for LANDSCAN, a practical, hands-on workshop series for land managers in the Murrumbateman region. LANDSCAN is a series of 6 half-day workshops that are usually held 4 to 6 weeks apart in.

Designed to build confidence and support better on-farm decision-making, the series will help participants understand landscape capabilities and limitations, develop skills in soil testing and soil test interpretation, and strengthen their knowledge of soil fertility management.

Whether you're looking to improve productivity, enhance land condition, or better understand your soils, LANDSCAN offers valuable knowledge and practical tools you can apply on your property.

Course details:

Attending the workshop series, you will:

• develop skills and knowledge to assess natural resources on farms (pastures, vegetation, soils and topography) to better match land-use to land capability.

• make more informed decisions about managing landscapes and allocating resources to better balance production, profit and sustainability issues.

• understand a process to help explain and make decisions about complex, often inter-related issues like soil acidity, ground cover, pasture and nutrient decline.

• develop a sound basis for developing or modifying a farm plan. is uniquely tailored to their property, based on key factors such as soil type, environment and their production goals.

Cost:

• LANDSCAN is subsidised by the Natural Heritage Trust, with the cost of the course only $100+GST per farm business. Up to 2 people per farm business can register.

• Participating properties will receive two free soil tests, with the option to purchase additional tests at cost.
  

Location:

• Each workshop will be conducted on-farm at a local property, with location details supplied to registered participants.

• Workshop places are limited. Register early. You can join the waitlist if you miss out.
