Launch: White Jade Orchids 白蘭花
Description
Join Verge in celebrating the launch of White Jade Orchids 白蘭花 by Chun Yin Rainbow Chan.
This won’t last is an installation that takes on ideas of the contemporary ruin to explore impermanence, disembodiment, failure, and decay.
White Jade Orchids 白蘭花' is 'a meditation on women's songs and stories, on language and the importance of remembering what is almost lost...'
Reconnecting with her Wai Tau roots, Chan has begun researching into 圍頭 Wai Tau / Wei Tou women’s cultural knowledge, collaborating with female elders in Lung Yeuk Tau village. Learning from their fading songs and stories, Chan has spawned a growing body of work across music, performance and visual art, to which this exhibition contributes.
Food and drinks provided at the launch. All welcome.
