Join Us for the Launch of OWN NSW's Reconciliation Statement
Event description
After the heartbreak of last year’s ‘No’ vote, it has never been more important to stand together, to look honestly at our shared history, and to commit to doing better.
This National Reconciliation Week, the Older Women's Network NSW will take a long-overdue step: launching our OWN NSW Reconciliation Statement! This is about more than words — it’s about acknowledging the truth of dispossession, injustice, and resilience, and building a future grounded in respect, dignity, and real action with First Nations people, especially First Nations older women.
We invite you to join us for an afternoon of reflection, connection, and celebration as we honour this year’s theme: "Bridging Now to Next" — connecting past, present, and future on the reconciliation journey.
Program highlights:
- Welcome to/Acknowledgement of Country
- Unveiling of OWN NSW’s Reconciliation Statement
- Reading of the award-winning book The 3 Dresses which was written by Nukgal Wurra author–artist Wanda Gibson
- Mooncatchers Choir for our exceptional performance of "Solid Rock" as part of the nationwide "Voices for Reconciliation"
- Light refreshments
Everyone is welcome.
Join us for this important moment as we move forward — together — with open hearts.
Let’s bridge now to next.
