Laurel Place Moreton Sexual Violence Awareness Month Brunch 2024
Description
Join us for an inspiring and impactful morning at the Laurel Place Moreton Sexual Violence Awareness Month Brunch. As we observe this vital month dedicated to raising awareness and fostering change, this event will serve as a platform to deepen our collective understanding and commitment to addressing sexual violence in our communities.
We will be joined by:
Dr Emily Moir discussing her recent work focusing on preventing the abuse of older adults with projects exploring elder abuse in Queensland, rural and remote Australia, and barriers for older people in reporting experiences of abuse.
Deborah Aldrick, the author of Circling The Wagons, a first-hand account of an adult survivor's struggles to reclaim her life after dealing with childhood sexual abuse. Through her writing, Deborah sheds light on the often-overlooked experiences of survivors and fosters important conversations around consent and healing.
Alys Ffion, a Sunshine Coast singer/songwriter who is sharing her story of recovery from sexual assault through her upcoming album "Healing Era".
There will also be the opportunity for Community Networking - connect with like-minded individuals, organizations, and allies who are dedicated to creating safer environments for everyone.
Enjoy a light brunch while participating in meaningful conversations aimed at promoting awareness, education, and action. Together, we can build a supportive community that stands firmly against sexual violence and advocates for those in need.
