Law for Non-Lawyers: Canberra Rape Crisis Centre
Event description
The Canberra Rape Crisis Centre (CRCC) is taking part in the next Law for Non-Lawyers session with Legal Aid ACT to provide information on their programs and services. CRCC is a non-government, feminist organisation working collaboratively within service provision systems in the ACT and surrounding areas to eliminate sexual violence in our community. In this session we will discuss our vision and mission, referral and intake processes, our options for support, and an overview of our community engagement activities. We will also briefly discuss the impacts of trauma and how to respond to disclosures of sexual violence. CRCC client services are available to survivors of sexual violence regardless of when they experienced violence in their lives, as well as their supporters.
Jovana from CRCC will be presenting this session. She is a crisis counsellor and advocate. Since August 2024, Jovana has also been coordinating CCRC's community engagement program, which provides education, training, and other community activities focused on primary prevention of sexual violence, as well as the social determinants, drivers, and responses to sexual violence in our community.Â
