Law Way® Sessions:

Law Way® Sessions is a series of conversations curated and hosted by Dr. Terri Janke. Dive into the latest insights from speakers with in-depth knowledge and expertise. Our sessions are designed to empower participants with the knowledge to make informed decision, tackle real-world challenges and address pressing issues with confidence. Elevate your legal knowledge with us.

From Bush to Business

From finger limes to lemon myrtle tea, wattle seed cake to mamarra soap, bush products are increasingly in demand across Australia and indeed internationally. This growth brings opportunities for Indigenous Peoples to benefit socially, economically and environmentally from their traditional practices. However, it also opens doors to exploitation and misappropriation. How can Indigenous producers of bush products protect their Intellectual Property, Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property, and Cultural Knowledge? Join Dr Terri Janke and Senior Associate Anika Valenti in a discussion on these important questions and more in our next Law Way® Session.

Who should attend?

  • First Nations community groups and corporations working on Country
  • Indigenous entrepreneurs and bush products businesses
  • Indigenous and non-Indigenous people interest in the native food and botanicals industry
  • People interested in intellectual property and patent rights for genetic materials
  • Government departments and agencies supporting Indigenous economic development
  • Anyone seeking to use or incorporate native resources into their business or business project.
