Event description

Celebrate the special bond between mothers and daughters these holidays with this one-of-a-kind creative adventure.

Run by award winning artist/educator Kim Thomson, together you’ll embark on a creative journey through a series of drawing exercises that explore shape, colour, and line to discover the motifs you love. Inspiration will come from the native garden, still life arrangements in the house, and the studio itself. Ideas will also be drawn from renowned collage artists such as Matisse, Hannah Höch, Basquiat, Barbara Kruger and Sophie Taeuber Arp.

The collage-making process includes exploring composition and colour and then selecting from   trays of patterned, painted and coloured paper to be utilised as you would a paint palette. You can also add text to your work, inspired by prompts such as shared phrases, nicknames, or meaningful poems. Text can be added using stencils or selected from printed papers.

Based in Aldinga Beach, Frolic and Flo is a charming “1950’s beach shack come studio of dreams.” This flexible workshop environment offers several comfortable spaces to create, whether in the breezy bell tent out front, inside at the mid-century dining table, or out on the sunny back porch.

Three hours of pure joy, and creativity and tea and coffee is provided during a short break.

One ticket is for both mother and daughter.

Kim Thomson is a registered teacher and has a working with children check, police clearance and public liability insurance.
