Description of the Series

Session 1: Discovering our Strengths (Jan 30th)

Join us for an engaging and interactive high level introduction to Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD),  a globally embraced approach that starts with what’s strong, not what’s wrong. In this session, we’ll explore the six community assets that make communities thrive and uncover the unique gifts we each bring.  

Through dynamic conversations and mapping activities, participants will connect their own skills, passions, and experiences to the broader vision of creating liveable cities. Together, we’ll spark new ideas, share wisdom, and discover free learning opportunities that can be woven into both community and workplace life.

Session 2: Co-Creating Our Collective Future (Feb 27th)

This session invites participants into a Learning Conversations World Café, a collaborative and creative space where ideas, hopes, and visions for the Liveable Cities Collective take shape.

We’ll explore  what we hope to grow, and what gifts and passions we’re ready to offer as we co-create the Collective’s future. Participants will gain insight into top-down and bottom-up approaches, discovering how community-led action and shared leadership can help co-create and bring our collective vision to life.

Session 3: Moving Ideas into Action (Mar 27th)

In our third gathering, we’ll turn inspiration into action using Open Space Technology, a participatory process where everyone takes the lead on what matters most.

Building on insights and ideas from previous sessions, we’ll pose a powerful, “wicked” question to guide our conversations and the future of the Liveable Cities Collective. Participants will create their own conversation spaces, share wisdom, and explore pathways to bring ideas to life. This is where collaboration meets action, where new partnerships, projects, and possibilities begin.

In this three-part series, we’re building the conditions for momentum, the kind that moves us from conversation to clarity, and from clarity to collective action. If you’re ready to be part of shaping what comes next, this series is where it begins. We look forward to having you there!

About the Jeder Institute

The Jeder Institute is a not-for-profit, next-stage organisation (NSO), a boss-less collective of practitioners working across Australia in the NDIS and community-building sectors.

We are grassroots practitioners with global connections, having worked alongside communities in more than 20 countries. Members of our team also sit on the boards of the ABCD Institute in Chicago and the International Association of Community Development in Scotland, helping to bridge local action with international learning.
